The energy group RWE reacts to the planned increased use of coal power and stops the early retirement of employees. In addition, trained and external workers are to cover the personnel requirements. We’re talking about hundreds of places.

In order to be able to keep lignite-fired power plants running longer, the energy supply group RWE is stopping the early retirement of employees who should actually be taking early retirement when lignite-fired blocks are shut down. A company spokeswoman told the “Rheinische Post” that the need for personnel should also be covered by hiring trained people and from the external labor market. That includes several hundred positions.

Three RWE blocks could be started up again

RWE Power has three 300-megawatt power plant blocks that are currently on so-called security standby and can be restarted at the request of the federal government: Niederaussem E and F and Neurath C.

Federal Minister of Economics Robert Habeck wants to reduce the use of gas for power generation and industry in view of reduced Russian deliveries. More coal-fired power plants are to be used for this. They are intended to replace electricity generation from power plants fired with natural gas as far as possible. The filling of the gas storage tanks is to be promoted.
